ALTENER Projects - Non-Technological
Information on over 200 projects funded under ALTENER, the non-technological EU programme aimed at promoting the use of RES.

CORDIS Projects - Research & Development
The Community Research and Development Information Service.
Extensive database of renewable energy projects funded by the European Commission.

CADDET - Centre for Analysis and Dissemination of Demonstrated Technologies.
The CADDET Renewable Energy Database provides reliable, up-to-date information on over 450 actual, full-scale projects making use of renewable energy

WORLD ENERGY COUNCIL
Database of projects which form part of the Pilot Programme to Reduce Industry's Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 1 gigatonne (10 x 9) Carbon Dioxide or its Equivalent in Radiative Forcing terms.

Solar Electricity Action SOLAREC

This action contribute to implementation of RES in the EU undertaking new S&T developments in field where harmonization is required. The action contributes with the development of standards and references to ensure the quality of 1st and 2nd generation PV technology.

  • The action covers 4 key areas:
  • . Fair and Transparent Markets
  • . 1st Generation PV (Silicon)
  • . 2nd Generation PV (Thin Films)
  • . 3rd Generation PV (Ultra-High Efficiency).

PVGIS Photovoltaic Geographical Information System

Geographical Assessment of Solar Resource and Performance of Photovoltaic Technology

PVGIS provides a map-based inventory of solar energy resource and assessment of the electricity generation from photovoltaic systems in Europe, Africa, and South-West Asia

The GreenBuilding Programme

EC voluntary programme through which companies commit to energy efficiency measures in non-residential buildings.

CONCERTO Projects

Initiative of the European Commission for creating a more sustainable future for Europe's energy needs.

IntellEbase

IntellEbase is the European Commission's public dissemination database for non-technological projects supported by the Community in the field of energyefficiency (SAVE programme) and renewable energy sources( ALTENER programme ).

The ATLAS Project

ATLAS was funded by the non nuclear energy programme (demonstration component 'THERMIE') of the 4th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (RTD).

The ATLAS Project was a major initiative aimed at establishing an information base to support energy Research and Technological Development (RTD) strategy, which has been undertaken by the European Network of Energy Agencies (E n R) on behalf of Directorate General XVII of the European Commission.

The Echaine Project

The Echaine Project focused on energy wood production chaines, exploring all aspects, from techno-economical to social issues.

Optimal blades R & D project

Increasing the lifetime of wind turbine blades

Bioenergy chains study

Examining the impact of bioenergy chains.

The EESD Programme

Understanding the economics of energy crops.

MEXICO Project

Detailed wind tunnel measurements on a representative wind turbine model

Marineco Project

Conversion of wave energy into electricity and electrolysis of sea water for hydrogen production.

Taqsolre Project

Analysis of the reliability of stand-alone PV systems.

Pig heat and straw Project

A Dutch firm has invented a heat recovery system that could help modernise European pig farms, reducing their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Superhydrogen Project

Palladium membranes to optimise hydrogen production.

The University of Warwick in the United Kingdom exploited hydrogen's (H2) attraction to palladium to develop a novel membrane that facilitate the production of pure H2 gas.

The TIME Project

Producing bioethanol with thermophilic enzymes.

A cost-effective and sustainable method was developed for the production of ethanol using lignocellulosic waste or dedicated crops. New technologies focused on pre-treatment and enzymes responsible for hydrolysis.

IBUS System

Integrated Biomass Utilisation System

Refineries for bioethanol and power production

INDHI Programme

Increasing solar cell efficiency with silicon nitride.

Some of Europe's top engineers worked together to convert more of the sun's energy into electricity by constructing better solar cells.

The MOND Project

Evaluation matrix for renewable energy technology.

The EU leather industry is well suited for the application of Renewable Energy Systems (RES) technology. A decision matrix was used to determine which particular type of technology was best suited to the sector.

Afforhd Project

Alternative fuel injection boost diesel engines

Fantasy Project

Optimising energy output from silicon solar cells

Engineers at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (THT) have learned how to coax even more energy production out of multicrystalline silicon solar cells by etching their surface.
