Awards
The CTO awards are to be granted every year, the first being in
Oct 2000.
Who won in 2000?
|
  |
In
order to reward and highlight "best practices", it is intended
to grant awards to the best programmes, municipalities, utilities,
tourist companies, building promoters, farmers, industries or their
associations as well as consumer associations etc.
The awards ceremony and allocation of the awards is organised by the
European Commission Directorate General for Transport and Energy (DG
TREN). |

Participants
The "CTO Awards"
competition is open to all those who have signed a Renewable Energy Partnership
with DG TREN, in the context of the Campaign for Take-Off of renewable
sources of energy.
The Campaign for Take-Off Awards
scheme is open to private and public institutions and companies. The participants
can be: municipalities, universities, energy agencies, energy industry/utilities,
consumer associations, non governmental organisations, financial institutions,
forest-based industries, forest-based cooperatives, farmers associations,
industry associations, local, regional and national administrations.
Objectives
The Campaign for Take-Off Awards Scheme has two main goals:
1. To reward efforts in promoting renewable energy
2. To showcase successful projects and initiatives all over Europe
Categories
The jury will be awarding prizes to the best partnerships according
to the following catergories:
The best partnership from all categories
The best industrial partnership
The best partnership with a national scope
The best partnership with a regional scope
Within the 100 communities category, prizes will be awarded to three different
classes of entry:
City- or town-based communities
Rural communities
Geographically isolated communities
Application
There is one standard questionnaire in english for all categories.
This questionnaire will
be used for the Awards, the evaluation of the Renewable
Energy Partnership and the Catalogue.

Deadline
The deadline for
entry into the 2001 award competition has yet to be announced.
Two copies of the application folder for the competition have to be completed
and returned to Observ'ER before the deadline.
The award ceremony is held
during the annual ALTENER Conference.
