Wind energy contributes for 51% to total RE power production, biomass and cogeneration accounts for 12,7% and small hydro for 33%. Installed win power in 2006 = 1.840 MWp Total wind power installed = 6.270 MWp (end 2006) India has > 135.000 MW of installed power plant capacity with which it produces annually approx. 700 TWh of electricity. Indian experts estimate that there is a potential of 45.000 MW of installed wind capacity, with only 1/3 considered as technically feasible.
