Belgium Overview of renewable energies in Belgium: Flanders Investment & Trade Renewable Energy Business in Belgium The Walloon region is aiming for 5% of total energy consumption from renewables by the year 2010. The most important renewable resource for the future is biomass and a large number of projects are being carried out. In Flanders, there is particular interest in biodiesel and biomethanisation. Wallony has more widespread interests due to more developed agriculture and forestry policies. At the moment approx. 3,4% of electricity production is from pure renewables and a further 0,7% from co-generation.
