The Netherlands

In The Netherlands the goal is to meet 5% of the nation's energy demand from renewable sources in 2010 and 10 % in 2020.

At the moment, approx 1,5% of the Dutch energy consumption is met from renewable sources (mainly from waste, biomass, wind and solar energy). This is small compared with many other countries but is mainly due to the fact that the flat landscape and the small area of the country offers little scope for hydropower and forestry.
