Renewable Energy Policy in Finland

In a series of transparencies basic information is presented on how much various RE sources are utilised and the objectives for their use.

The Finnish Action Plan for Renewable Energy Sources launched in 1999 has the objective of doubling utilisation of RES (12,3 Mtoe) by 2025, as compared to the situation in 1995 (6,1 Mtoe = 21% of total energy consumption).

By 2010 use of RES should be 50% higher (3 Mtoe) than reference year 1995.
To reach these targets, wood based fuels and recovered fuels play a leading role.
The increase in use of RES will be obtained almost entirely from bioenergy.
