Technologies Solar radiation is converted directly into electric energy by Photovoltaic cells. A photovoltaic cell consists of a thin film of a semiconductor in contact with another appropriate material, usually a metal. Most commercial PV cells are manufactured from crystalline silicon. The individual cells are grouped into modules and encapsulated between a sheet of glass and a backing material within a frame. |
